  1. On Saturday, November 26th, my significant other was returning home from a shift at Montpelier hospital. He says he drive about 40 miles. He was very weak and stopped at a rest area to use the restroom. He had to sit down and ended up falling asleep on a bench in the building. The attendant there woke him up and told him he to leave and that the rest area was “not a hotel” Some hours later, he arrived home. It turned out he was in the beginning of a diabetic coma as he fell into one within a few hours. He was wearing hospital scrubs with a name tag. He was clearly out of it. My concern is that the attendant probably should have been a little kinder to him and maybe call a supervisor or some sort of emergency personnel as it was clear that he wasn’t a vagrant trying to be a nuisance. Maybe a little training for the attendants just in case travelers have medical issues.

  3. Last Monday we were eating lunch in one of the rest stops on Ohio Interstate 80. After we ate I left without my purse. We were traveling from Michigan to Connecticut. We reached home around 12:30 am and after emptying the car I realized my purse was not there. I was so upset. We called the police and they told us who to contact and gave us a phone number. They were also able to tell me that my name was on a list they had, which meant my purse should be in a safe place. I felt hopeful after that call and went to sleep. Thank you Ohio Police from Berea, Ohio (I think) for some sleep that night! The next morning I woke up 6:30 am and called the number the officer had given me and left a message. A hour later someone called me back and gave me a number to call. A few minutes later he called me back with 3 numbers to try! Everyone was so helpful. Later someone named Leonard called me. It turned out he was the Lost & Found for all of the Ohio rest stops and he told me he had my purse and that it was in a safe place. He called me several times and helped me get everything needed to get my purse home to me. He told me that he was very sorry but they couldn’t mail it out until the following Monday because that is when the trucks come by to all of the stops for pick ups. Later I got a phone call saying he could send it right away and today I received my purse with every single thing in it. Everything!!! Credit cards, cash, it was all there, including my vintage purse! I am thrilled. Thank you Leonard, the Police Department, and the people that turned in my purse! Thank you so very, very much! In these difficult times, I find that I am a apart of something very special. This is an act of kindness and it is refreshing and wonderful to be a part of It because itreminds me that most people are honest, and care for others, and want to help and do the right thing. There are still many, many good people in this world. That’s what a majority of us are, good people and we can never forget that. Thank you to all of you! I really needed this! It lifts me up and gives me hope that we will all be okay. I promise to pass this act of kindness on to another! Ohio, you are a great state with great people! Thank you again with all of my heart!!
