    • I’m unable to confirm that this location is permanently closed. The DOT website indicates it is open. The tourism website indicates the welcome center located here is temporarily closed for the season. Can you provide additional details?

  1. Can I sleep in my travel trailer at eastbound I-80 underwood rest area on august 15th. I want to pull in and not detach. Would stay hooked up. Is it safe to sleep over? It is good stopping place. If not, do u have any suggestions for us. Thanks.

    • Yes…you can sleep in your travel trailer in any rest area. Most of the time you need to park in either an area designated for RV/travel trailers or with the semi’s if there is no designated area. At times we have parked in the car section with our travel trailer, if the semi section is full, and there is no designated area, but only when it is super late at night and there are few cars in the parking area. Even then we park as far to the end of the parking area as we can so we don’t interfere with parking for smaller vehicles. Hope this helps!
