  1. When are the rest areas between Macon and Moultie in GA going to be open again? We have been traveling with 5 dogs to SunBelt Expo and have no place to stop with them. Why didn’t they close every other one? Come on!

  2. When will exit 161 in Punta, Gorda, FL be opened? It has been at least 2 months that we know of that it has been closed. It is most inconvenient when traveling that this rest area on I-75 is closed. Is this rest area going to be closed permanently? If so, why??

    • The rest area at Exit 161 is permanently closed. FDOT will be demolishing the buildings. They felt that not enough traffic used this particular location and that local businesses were able top provide the same services. It is being viewed as a savings to tax payers

      • The rest area at 161 is permanently closed. FDOT Demolished the buildings. They felt that not enough traffic used this particular location (Placing a distance between the next Southern Rest Station and the next Northern Rest Station at 107 miles apart. – Wonder if the tax payers felt it wasn’t being utilized enough?) And, that perhaps local businesses complained about the proximity of the rest station so as to increase revenues for themselves. – (You know, the low quality, filthy local businesses there that will provide better sanitation, can’t maintain their lots, parking, ingress and egress, dinning areas, bathrooms or even shop floors. And, the tax payers don’t have to pay for the continued security expenses since money is hard to come by in every state.) It is being perceived/sold as a savings to the tax payers. Oh, wait “Viewed”, so that pork taxes can be redirected to another community beneficial project.
