  1. Anyone able to post a lost dog that was dropped off at rest area 99 or 48. It was a 87 year old veterans dog from Pa. Has hit all our news station up here The stolen vehicle was found but they said the dog was dropped at a rest area. There is a $5000 reward. • Good luck. Nothing worse than leaving an animal, abandoning one?
We stopped @ N. Carolina Rest Area north and my pocket book dropped out of the car when I opened the back door.I thought, I picked up what fell out of my bag but arriving in Lumberton, I discovered that a small zippered cloth pouch with important paper clipped items was mission out of my bag. Not sure who to contact about this. It is important for this pouch to be returned as my granddaughters gift was in there.
Anyone with advice or information as to who to contact would really help. I guessed that pouch fell and ended up under the car but was missed retrieving it.
Thank you if anyone can help.

      • Hey Liz, I’m very sorry to hear you lost your pocket book and subsequently your granddaughter’s gift. I really hope you’re able to track it down. As for who to contact I would recommend calling the North Carolina Department of Transportation office and let them know which rest area you lost your pocket book at and hopefully they are able to get in contact with the rest area and see if someone has found and turned in your property. Their phone number is 877-368-4968 and should you need extra resources their website is https://www.ncdot.gov/Pages/default.aspx

        Good luck to you!

      • Seriously? Who is going to buy a physical book when the rest areas are always being periodically shut down and/or changed?

        • Publishing travel books is how I earn a living. Giving away information for free is not a good way make that happen; I’d be out of business quickly and this site would go away.

A book will not and cannot provide the most current information. For that, people will need to obtain information from a state’s Department of Transportation office.

  2. Just stopped at the northbound Selma rest area and the ladies room on that side is disgusting, too! 4 unusable stalls including the handicapped stall. Unacceptable!!

  3. I just stopped at the Selma rest area on 95 south and the women’s rest rooms were filthy. I am not sure who is responsible for cleaning them.
