  1. The rest area at mile marker 54 has ONE lone picnic table adjacent to the building. That is the extent of the picnic facilities. (Can I post a picture?)

mirror may park the night in any rest area along the Interstate.

    • Thanks for the information. The name that follows a rest area mile marker number is typically that of a nearby city or town. That said, Ironto does appear to be the name of a locale, though, but smaller than Elliston.

  3. Traveling north on I81 in motor home towing our car looking for a rest area. RuralRetreat rest area says cars only. Hmmm…. just pulled off exit ramp for a few minute break.

    • A “car only” rest area typically means there is no truck parking space. You may have difficulty in parking a motorhome with toad.

  6. About to head north to New York state from GA. Have a 25′ camper we’re towing. Are there any rest areas on Virginia along I-77 N and I-81 north tjay have A/C hookups?

    • No, rest areas do not provide hookups for RVs. The only exception is Ohio’s turnpike, which does offer some overnight parking spots with utilities for a fee.
