  1. I-80 MM 42 westbound Wadsworth rest area is open again. Water service has been restored and restrooms and dump station functional. Thank you NDOT!

  2. Beowawe MM 258 westbound rest area is now open. Will report status of Eastbound side when I come back this way in a few weeks.

  3. Just drove across US on I70 and I80,
Nevada’s rest stop were awful. Neglected and seemingly not maintained at all.
Worst of any state by far.

  4. But what about the truckers that need to poop? They use a plastic bag to defecate into, tie it, then toss it out the window. This contributes to our littering problem immensely as now no one wants to clean it up. I made a backpack for picking up trash while biking. I won’t put one of those stink bombs in my pack. We need the Beowowe rest area reopened and a small one between Austin and Battle Mountain.

  5. I have not seen one Open since I started driving through nevada from Oregon- stopped in battlefield, nevada as I was uncertain if next rest area will be open- not fun when driving all day- they probably want you to have to stop and get a room or just to rest somewhere and put money in the slots!!

    • Beowawe rest stop has been closed so long it seems to be permanent and they should tear it down.
Waste of taxpayer funds to have it sit and rot

“Utility Work – on I-80 in both directions at Beowawe Rest Area in Eureka County Nevada. Rest Area Closed Indefinitely. No Parking Permitted.”

      • Beowawe is one of the nicest rest stops in Nevada. Now, it is abandoned. The trees that were carefully planted there, and which took years to grow have been allowed to die.
The rest stop is well situated for road weary travelers. Those in danger of falling asleep and needing a break from driving are SOL. Might contribute to the high number of one vehicle accidents Nevada is so famous for.
Nevada considers tourism a major part of it’s economy. Yet it can’t keep the stops that give comfort and safety to those who drive here and those who live here.
        It’s a damm shame.
