  1. I-80 MM 51 Sidney Rest Area is closed. The restroom building has been removed, leaving a large concrete parking lot. Perhaps it’s destined as a future truck parking area with no amenities.

    • According to Nebraska’s 511 website, the rest area is temporarily closed due to long-term highway construction. It may be the rest area will be rebuilt, but I’ve not been able to find a press release announcing this.

      • Who do we contact regarding vendor at Sutherland eastbound rest stop who is ripping people off? R.R.Broughton, owned by Rhonda Broughton, has vending machine at this rest stop. You put in $5. for a $1.75 candy bar and get $1.25 back; vendor owes customer $2. Contacted by phone owner claimed she’s blind as the reason she didn’t get text. and said she’d mail the money asap. Have contacted 3 other times now, after not receiving our money, and gotten no response. This is a scam, and they are making a lit of money by cheating people every day. We want our money, and the license needs to be suspended while a full audit performed.

  2. Restroom mile marker #61 Sidney westbound was very clean well stocked and they were cleaning them at 12:30pm
Maybe the rest area experience was poor for you as people don’t pick up after themselves and are quite untidy.
A big shout out thank you to those service workers who work so hard to keep the facilities clean.

  3. If you’re a trucker looking for a spot to reset for the night or to get some much needed rest, there is a huge truck parking lot just up the road 2 miles north of exit 22. Plenty of room!

  4. As we entered NE from CO on I-80 we stopped at the Ogallala rest area and found them to be a very poor entry welcoming us to the State of NE. The restrooms were not clean and in the age of COVID…no paper towels and no soap. Does NE not believe we have a national pandemic?

  5. Here’s a thought. STOP CLOSEING THE REST EREAS!!! THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH TRUCK STOPS IN THIS STATE. THERE IS NO REASON TO CLOSE THE PARKING HALF! MAYBE WE NEED TO SEE ABOUT SUEING THE STATE.
