The rest stop area, which is considered a welcome center at mile marker 1 going east on I-74 in Indiana is a terrible statement of what my home state of Indiana represents. The women’s bathroom was disgusting, smelly, old, and not repaired, and none of the stall doors locked..plus there was a terribly noisy door that didn’t open all the way at the entrance into the facility and the supposed WELCOME center had no assistant there to greet visitors, like OTHER US state’s welcome centers have, offered no Maps for traveling THIS state NOR Border states like it used to. My husband reports also that there WERE vending machines there, but they were hard to find. Just an overall disappointing representation of an amazing State in the US!!!

  2. Is the eastbound rest area near Batesville going to be rebuilt? And if no, why not. Older folks need to stop more frequently.

    • I don’t know. You’ll need to contact Indiana’s DOT office for an official response. This rest area does not appear on their website anymore and there is no mention of why.

    • Thanks for pointing this out. My database was correct but I had failed to make the change on this website to show it as closed.
