Rest area
I have been traveling on I-80/90 for years now, and often stop at the rest stops to use the bathroom. Last night I stopped at the portage rest stop on west bound I-80/90. I was absolutely disgusted by the restrooms. It was very unsaintary. As I was walking up to the restrooms the stench of urine was very overwhelming. I do realize the large number of people that visit the rest stops and realize that it may not always be spotless, but this was unaccaptable. This is not the first time that I have encountered this at the paticular rest area. The rest area smelled and looked like it had not been tended to in days. It is supposed to be maintained by Hardee's as the sign in the bathroom states, but if I were Hardee's I would be ashamed to have that sign posted in there. Bottom line is I will no longer be stopping at this paticular rest area if things do not improve. Again I realize how busy it is, but please take action and make sure it is cleaned well as often as possible. All of the other rest areas are very clean, but this one is disgusting.

the rest area was close in wolcott but did not say so until we stopped then the one in waynetown was shut down on both that not helpful

I just traveled eastbound on I-80/I-90 and was absolutely disgusted at the state of the rest areas in Indiana. For one of the rest areas to be unsanitary was unacceptable, but for all of them to be in this condition was completely ridiculous. This is a toll highway, so a traveler on this road is limited in the options available. If Indiana is going to continue to collect tolls from drivers, they had bettter do something immediately to rectify this problem. Not only were the human rest areas disgusting, but the pet areas were completely unsafe for dogs. There was no way that I would let my dog out of the car to do her business in area covered in garbage, discarded cigarette butts and broken glass. By far, these rest areas in Indiana were the most disgusting rest areas I encountered in a near cross country drive that began in northern Idaho and ended in New Jersey.

filthy washrooms & McDonald's
This past week I stopped at the Southbend rest stop in Fremont. I was disgusted at the washrooms and the McDonald’s restaurant!! They were UNBELIEVABLY FILTHY!! The washrooms had pipes showing, the water was yellow, rust was all over the toilets & sinks, there were broken doors, no hooks inside the stalls, and more. It’s the dirtiest McDonald’s I’ve ever seen. The food counter was not clean. The counter where I get napkins, etc. was also sickingly filthy. The round hole on the counter where garbage is disposed was caked with dirty food. It didn’t look like it had been cleaned in 6 months. Are there no restaurant inspectors in Indiana??!!
I felt like I needed to take a shower after I left this rest stop. I cannot believe you would allow such filth for the amount of money we pay to ride the toll road. This cannot continue. Something must be done now!!
IN rest areas in general
I find most IN rest areas unacceptable in general. We went to Washington DC this summer and noted that all other states were EXCELLENT compared to IN.

Just wanted to let you know that place is disgusting! We stopped there on 1/10/2011 and it was gross-the restrooms and Hardees. I paid 6.00 for a flat,soggy,greasy gross bacon and egg sandwich,looked like a crepe. The restrooms were really dirty and look like they haven't been clean in awhile. There is plenty of people working here why doesn't anyone have the job of cleaning the place up? Maybe you should hire someone just for cleaning the restrooms and the eating area. Very unhealthy. I will not stop there again. You should think about getting someone there to supervise these people because all I seen was a bunch of kids working there talking to each other standing around. I will make sure we don't stop there again. Come on Indiana clean up your act. If other states with these rest areas can keep theirs clean why can't you?
Indiana Rest Stops Disgusting
I would be embarassed to be an Indiana resident with the condition of the rest stops on the Indiana Turnpike. Thankfully it's only 150 miles. Each time we travel I tell my kids to hold it until we get to Ohio

Mark Bosworth was last seen by friends at the Cycle Oregon event in Riddle, Oregon on Friday, September 16th, around 11:00 p.m. His current whereabouts are unknown. He could be traveling. Mr. Bosworth has recently been showing signs of disorientation and confusion. According to Mark's doctors, his lymphoma returned and is creating pressure on the frontal lobe of his brain. This is the seat of reasoning, judgment and memory and explains his growing confusion and disorientation. Without medical treatment, the pressure will spread to the brain stem which controls basic bodily functions. Superb Cleanliness at Rest Area #032501, I-70 Westbound
On August 29th, my wife and I stopped at the rest area (5248 E I-70, Greenfield IN, Westbound, #032501) and we were both very pleased with the cleanliness, inside and out. We wanted to extend our gratitude to the people that maintain this site. The cleanliness convinced us to sit and have our lunch outside at the picnic tables. It was a pleasant and relaxing experience.

West Bound 90 Northside Hardees and Red Burritto
The absolutely worst experience I have ever had at any resturant, rest stop, you name it! I got an attendant who could care less if she waited on me. We got no reciept, the wrong orders, and a lot of bad attitude! When I asked for a manager, I got a name and a phone number. The phone rings in the restuarant! The response was, "Oh yeah, she doesn't work on Sunday!" Then I tried to get the management at the rest area! Good luck, I am now going to write to Hardies and the Red Burrito!
Don't eat here!
